Join us for a day filled with family-friendly fun! An annual treat for dance-loving little ones and new movers alike, Family Day at the Ballet features an exciting array of dance-inspired activities the whole family can enjoy.
Join the YELI Ensemble for an hour of traditional dance from Guinea, West Africa. The djembefola Ibrahima Dioubate is joined by dancer-drummers Mohamed Cisse and Windship Boyd. All three will collaborate to teach you century-old dances that influenced the African diaspora and therefore all truly American dance forms such as jazz and tap.
The workshop will give participants an authentic and unforgettable experience where dance and music are truly one.

Meet four exceptional artists representing the immense cultural wealth of Guinea Conakry, one of West Africa’s most prolific capitals of dance and drums: Sory Diabate, Agathe Moubembe, Mohamed Cisse, and Ibrahima Dioubate. The talented interdisciplinary artists of the YELI Ensemble will perform and teach, sharing the profound influence and beauty of African culture & heritage through music and dance.
