Originally from Huntington Beach, California, Jamie Kopit began her training at Southland Ballet Academy in Fountain Valley. At 15, Kopit was awarded Grand Prix in the senior division at the Youth America Grand Prix’s Los Angeles 2009 regional competition. After competing in the competition’s finals in New York, Kopit was offered a scholarship to the Royal Ballet School. During her two years of training there, she had the opportunity to work as an apprentice at Birmingham Royal Ballet in David Bintley’s Cinderella.

From the Royal Ballet Upper School, Kopit joined the American Ballet Theatre as an apprentice in 2011 at 17 years old and joined the Corps in 2012. During her 6 seasons, Kopit toured with the company in Beijing, Hong Kong, Taipei, Seoul, Tokyo, Osaka, Paris, Barcelona, Muscat, and Abu Dhabi. She performed in many classical ballets including Swan Lake, Gisselle, Don Quixote, Coppelia, La Bayadere, Le Corsaire, Las Fille Mal Gardee, Lady of the Camellias, Onegin, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Cinderella, Sylvia, Manon, Symphony in C, Theme and Variations, and many more.  She premiered in Jessica Lang’s Her Notes and Mark Morris's After You, as well as having the opportunity to perform in various ballets by company choreographer Alexei Ratmansky. 

In 2018, Kopit joined the Nashville Ballet and has performed many principal roles, including Balanchine’s Duo Concertant, Balanchine’s The Four Temperaments (Sanguinic), Paul Vasterling’s Cinderella (Cinderella), Paul Vasterling’s Nashville's Nutcracker (Sugar Plum Fairy and Snow Queen) and Annabelle Lopez Ochoa’s A Streetcar Named Desire (Stella). She has had the opportunity to perform and premiere works by Matthew Neenan, Jennifer Archibald, Nick Mullikin, Val Caniparoli, and Paul Vasterling.  Kopit is also a certified instructor in the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM.
