BIO
Garritt McCabe began his training in Trexlertown, Pennsylvania, under the direction of Fran Jones Evers. He studied various styles of dance, including tap, jazz, hip hop, and ballet. When he was fifteen, he was asked to join Artists Simply Human as an assistant for the convention, working closely with faculty members such as Desmond Richardson, Dwight Rhoden, Jojo Gomez, and Judy Rice.
In 2016, he was offered a full scholarship to train at Boston Ballet School, where he performed as a trainee from 2017 through 2019. McCabe joined Pennsylvania Ballet’s second company in 2019 and was a member until the end of the 2020-21 Season. During his time there, he had incredible opportunities to perform a wide variety of works, including dancing as the principal dancer in George Balanchine’s Allegro Brillante, Basilio in Angel Corella’s Don Quixote Act III Suite, and the Spartacus pas de deux.
In addition to dancing himself, Garritt also teaches contemporary dance and ballet to students ages ten through eighteen and loves to choreograph for any studio or project that will have him. He is also a certified group fitness instructor through ISSA (International Sports Sciences Association) who enjoys training clients. When he’s not working, Garritt tends to his newly adopted rescue dog, Max. Max is a ten year old Labrador Retriever mix who is still full of life and very active. This will be Garritt’s first season with Nashville Ballet, and he is greatly looking forward to making his debut with the company and giving audiences a whole new reason to smile.
