BIO
Farin Taft grew up in Littleton, Massachusetts and began training with Boston Ballet School under the direction of Margaret Tracey at the age of three. During her high school years, she transitioned to an online schooling in order to spend her days at the Boston Ballet studios. Eventually, she worked her way up through the levels of Boston Ballet School and into their trainee program, where she performed with the school and company in several mainstage works at the Boston Opera House. Highlights included Ivan Liška’s Le Corsaire, Marius Petipa’s Sleeping Beauty, and Mikko Nissinen’s Swan Lake. She was also featured in George Balanchine’s Walpurgisnacht in her final performance with Boston Ballet School.
In 2018, Taft moved to Nashville to join Nashville Ballet’s official second company, NB2. In her three years as a second company member, she performed several ballets for Nashville’s Ballet’s Community Engagement program such as Jump, Frog, Jump and Degas and the Little Dancer. She also danced in the original cast of Christopher Stuart’s New Beginnings and was a part of the creation process for Gina Patterson’s 72 Steps. Taft has also danced in Nashville Ballet mainstage productions such as Artistic Director Emeritus Paul Vasterling’s Romeo and Juliet, Nashville’s Nutcracker, Seasons, and Christopher Stuart’s Under the Lights. Farin was recently promoted to a company apprentice for the 2021-22 season.
When not at the studio, Taft is pursuing a degree at Belmont University and enjoys the outdoors, boardgames, and dinners with friends.
