The Professional Training Division was developed to give dancers a comprehensive program designed to further develop technique, strength and artistry in a rigorous pre-professional environment. Dancers selected for this program are chosen for their talent and potential to pursue a career in professional dance. Dancers are evaluated throughout the year and considered for advancement into Nashville Ballet's official second company (NB2). Tuition for dancers who have attended School of Nashville Ballet’s Summer Intensive is $1,500 per semester and $2,000 for dancers who did not attend Summer Intensive. Each season contains two semesters and dancers are selected through auditions.
Comprehensive curriculum includes technique, pointe, variations, partnering and supplemental training such as contemporary, floor barre, conditioning, cardio and Nashville Ballet repertory.
Dancers have the opportunity to perform with the main company in Nashville’s Nutcracker. They will also be featured in the School of Nashville Ballet’s Spring Performance. In addition, several workshop style showings are scheduled throughout the year.
Students also receive education in resumé writing, audition tips, nutrition, video observation, physical therapy and other topics relevant to dance professionals.
The Training Division meets Monday through Friday, 9:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. This schedule allows participants to attend classes or work a part-time job later in the day. A sample schedule is available upon request.
