Katie Vasilopoulos, Company Dancer

Katie Vasilopoulos developed a love of dance while training at Maple Avenue Dance in Rockville Centre, New York, then furthered her training at Ballet Academy East in New York City. She joined Nashville Ballet's second company, NB2, in 2008 and performed in every available performance by Nashville Ballet’s Outreach & Community Engagement Program, including Anne Frank, The Singing Tortoise and Jump, Frog, Jump. She also performed with the main company in Paul Vasterling’s Carmina Burana, and in several soloist roles as part of Nashville’s Nutcracker.

Katie advanced to the position of apprentice in 2011. As an apprentice, Katie was featured as the Earth Figure in Salvatore Aiello's Rite of Spring and as the Fairy of Strength in The Sleeping Beauty. She also performed in Gina Patterson's Nashville Ballet original Cryin' Out and Brian Enos’ And Legions Will Rise.

After being promoted to full company member during the 2012 season, Katie was featured as one of the Three Witches in Vasterling’s Macbeth. During the 2013 season she originated the role of Tiger Lily in Vasterling’s Peter Pan and was featured in Jiri Kylian’s Petite Mort, and George Balanchine’s Serenade.

Outside of the studio, Katie can be found studying in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree from Belmont University.
