Welcome 2009! As we ring in a New Year, we also ring in the spectacular Winter and Spring Series line up, that will include the romance of Sinatra, playful clowns, the urban “jungle”, and just you wait…the magnificence of over 200 live voices on stage with our company dancers as Carmina Burana ends our season with grand flair! “Oh, Fortuna” are you who mark your calendars and don’t miss it! But it doesn’t stop there! 2009 marks the debut of an all-new children’s ballet production for Education and Outreach. On January 25, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Belmont University’s Massey Hall, NB2, the pre-professional company of Nashville Ballet will premiere, Ferdinand the Bull, our newest education and outreach ballet. This hour long ballet, based on the classic children’s book, The Story of Ferdinand by Munro Leaf, features enegetic choreography by our Artistic Director, Paul Vasterling, an original score by Mario DaSilva, and Picasso-inspired costuming designed by Nashville Ballet Company dancer, Eric Harris. We are so excited about presenting this new ballet to the community as we know it will be a hit with all ages! And speaking of helping our community, we are pleased to, once again, be partnering with Book’em at our premiere performance. Book’em is a nonprofit agency that helps to provide free books for those in need throughout Middle TN. We are asking that those who can, please bring a new or gently used children’s book to the performance to donate to Book’em. A donation area will be set up in the lobby for drop-off. What a wonderful gift you can give to the children of our community this new year- the gift of literacy! Make plans to join us January 25th at Massey Hall at 2:00 pm. IT IS A FREE PERFORMANCE FOR THE COMMUNITY!!!! so bring the whole family out for an afternoon of creative entertainment. It is going to be lots of fun! There is always something new and exciting happening at Nashville Ballet, so make sure to visit our website often and see what we are up to in 2009!
