About the Company

The strength of the company is illustrated in the longevity of the organization and individual dancer careers. That longevity can be attributed to the experiences dancers have within the company and the city, in general.

Being an Artist in Nashville
Nicknamed “Music City,” Nashville offers southern hospitality and metropolitan culture in a navigable mid-sized city. As its nickname suggests, Nashville embraces every genre of music. But that artistic appreciation extends beyond music into every form of art. Nashville offers its residents fine art, music and performance art of all kinds.

Also called the “Athens of the South” for its diverse cultural and educational opportunities, Nashville provides affordable housing and employment opportunities for its 600,000 residents.

Many company members choose to stay in Nashville beyond their time with the ballet to make it their home, because of the educational, residential and employment opportunities available.

Career Transitions
Nashville Ballet is committed to developing the entire dancer, because we believe that knowledge in all of its forms creates a better artist on stage. Throughout the season, dancers are treated to a series of lectures from professionals on our wellness and career transitions committees. Our wellness committee covers topics such as nutrition, injury prevention and maintaining dancer health during breaks. Our career transitions committee provides information on resume writing, interview skills, networking, personal finances and other valuable career-building skills to assist dancers in exploring other careers.

Committee members connect dancers with the resources they need to pursue their goals after completing their dance careers.

Belmont University Partnership
A unique partnership with Belmont University allows dancers to apply their dance experience toward earning a Bachelor’s degree, while dancing at Nashville Ballet. Dancers can pursue a degree through part-time enrollment and flexible class schedules.
